Mac/PC Setup
Eye-Fi is a third-party product that adds wireless capabilities to digital cameras (and devices that act like digital cameras, like Doxie Go). Expect the setup process to take 10-15 minutes -- perhaps a bit longer than it took to set up Doxie itself.
First, Install Eye-Fi
The Eye-Fi software is on the card itself. To install:
- Insert your Eye-Fi card into the supplied Eye-Fi card reader (not into Doxie Go). Plug the reader into any free USB port on your computer, then wait for the card to mount.
- For Mac users: Open the Eye-Fi removable drive from a new window in the Finder. Go to the START HERE folder, select Mac OS X, then open Eye-Fi to start.
- For PC users: Choose the “Open folder to view files” option when prompted, or navigate to the card under My Computer. Go to the START HERE folder, then select the Windows folder. Double click the Setup.exe file to start.
- Eye-Fi Center should launch after installation -- it can also be launched from the Eye-Fi menu on the menu bar (Mac) or taskbar tray (Windows). There’s two parts of the Eye-Fi software: Eye-Fi Helper, which appears in the menu bar (Mac) or task tray (Windows) and downloads your scans; and Eye-Fi Center, which allows you to set up Eye-Fi. Once you’re done setting up, you can quit Eye-Fi Center – the helper will do all of the work, and you'll only need to open Eye-Fi Center to change settings.
Follow the steps on-screen to set up Eye-Fi. After creating an Eye-Fi account, be sure to click the Eye-Fi activation link in the e-mail they send you to continue with setup.
Remember, it might take a few minutes for your first images to show up. Once you’ve finished, proceed to follow the additional setup steps below before to integrate with the Doxie app.
Tip: We don't suggest setting up your Eye-Fi card to connect directly to cloud services. Instead, follow the steps on this page to configure your Eye-Fi card to transmit scans directly to the desktop Doxie app. You can save or send them later.
Next, Link to Doxie Go
Once you’ve gone through Eye-Fi’s setup process, there’s just a few more steps to set up your Eye-Fi card for use with Doxie’s software:
- Re-insert the Eye-Fi card, open the Eye-Fi Center software, then click the “gear” icon that appears next to the card (on the left) to open the settings.
- Transfer Mode > Endless Memory tab: Enable Endless Memory, and set the limit to 10%. This ensures that you card doesn’t fill up with images you’ve already transferred, which slows down scanning over time.
- Photos > Computer tab: You need to change the folder where images are written so the Doxie software can find them. By default, pictures are written to a folder called “Eye-Fi” in your Pictures folder. Click “Change folder”, then select the “Doxie Eye-Fi” folder, also in your pictures folder.
If the "Doxie Eye-Fi" folder isn't there, here's how to recreate it.
Finally, You’re Ready To Scan
Eject the SD card and insert it into Doxie's SD card slot. Scan your first sheet, and it'll automatically transmit via Eye-Fi to the Doxie app in a moment.
