Here’s some advanced tips and tricks for using your Eye-Fi card with Doxie Go.
Connection & Pairing Tips
- As far as your Eye-Fi card is concerned, Doxie is a digital camera, taking and uploading JPEG images to your paired device. Doxie’s software automatically imports images that are transmitted to your computer wirelessly. Doxie’s software creates PDFs, helps you create stacks of documents, and offers a variety of other tools.
- If your scanner isn’t on the same Wi-Fi network as the device you’ve paired it with while you scan, scans will be stored on the Eye-Fi card, then transmitted the next time Doxie is turned on within range of your device. So, there’s no need to worry if your scans are being “received”, as they’ll always be stored on the card until they’re safely on another device.
- Your Eye-Fi card can only be paired with one device at a time. If you switch devices, Eye-Fi’s servers may take 5-10 minutes to switch the pairing. Be sure to follow the Final Setup Steps if you switch devices.
- You can join multiple Wi-Fi networks with your Eye-Fi card, and Direct Mode lets the device make its own network when there’s no other networks around. Remember, if a Wi-Fi network the Eye-Fi card knows about is nearby, Direct Mode won’t be turned on. Both your device (computer, phone, etc.) and the Eye-Fi card need to be on the same network to communicate with each other.
- If you're having trouble, first check for software and firmware updates for Eye-Fi – select "Check for Updates" from the Eye-Fi menu, allow the software to update, then insert your card to apply any firmware updates.
Mobile Device Tips
- Your Eye-Fi card can only be paired with one device at a time. You can switch it back to your computer in Eye-Fi Center, but the Eye-Fi card can only be paired to one device at a time.
- Scans from Doxie via the Eye-Fi mobile device app are JPEG images that have not been processed by the Doxie software, so you miss out on Doxie’s processing features, like automatic contrast boost, straightening, and OCR. Import your scans into Doxie’s app later if you want these additional enhancements.
- Your Eye-Fi card and your mobile device need to be on the same network to interact with each other. Insert your Eye-Fi card into your computer, then add your local Wi-Fi network to the Eye-Fi card.
- Direct Mode is an ad-hoc network that your Eye-Fi card network creates when no configured Wi-Fi networks are available. However, needing to join this network can be annoying if you often scan at a place where a Wi-Fi connection is available. If possible, add the network at your home or office to your Eye-Fi card to save a step.
Cloud Tips
- Eye-Fi can post scans directly to cloud services via Wi-Fi, without needing your computer or mobile device. This is not something we recommend or support doing. If you “skip” the Doxie software on your Mac or PC, you lose out on many features like automatic contrast boost, OCR, PDF creation, and scan optimization. Instead, you should sync scans to the Doxie app, organize and sort them there, and upload them from the app.
- Doxie natively saves images as JPEG images. If you skip the Doxie app, you can't create multi-page PDF files.
- All of that said, if you want to scan directly to cloud services with Eye-Fi's direct cloud feature, and are okay with the many limitations of this approach, open Eye-Fi settings, then select the Photos > Online tab. Please note, however, that we strongly discourage against this workflow, and are unable to provide technical support service for this advanced configuration. You should refer to Eye-Fi Customer Care for any issues.
Mac / PC Software Tips
- Doxie Go creates JPEG images, just like a digital camera, and Eye-Fi transmits them wirelessly to your computer. By following the setup instructions in this document, these JPEG images can be automatically imported by the Doxie software – just as if they’d been imported via a USB cable or SD card.
Doxie Go Hardware Tips
- Doxie Go turns itself off automatically after 5 minutes without a scan to save power. Uploading scans only takes seconds, however, if you have a very large number of scans to transfer, or a poor Wi-Fi signal, you may need to turn on Doxie again if it turns itself off while transmitting. Alternatively, tap Doxie’s button to reset the sleep timer.
- When the wireless SD card is inserted, scans are saved to the card, instead of Doxie’s internal memory. If you want to scan to Doxie directly, take out the card.
- Remember, even though the wireless SD card makes Doxie wireless, your scanner still needs to be recharged when power is running low.
Support Tips
- Eye-Fi can be set up to transmit your scans many ways -- for example, it can send scans wirelessly to your computer, your mobile device, or even directly to a cloud service like Evernote or Flickr with a wide range of options and services.
- This guide covers the basics of setting up your Eye-Fi for use with your computer or mobile device. For advanced uses, or if you need help setting up beyond the Doxie product, refer to Eye-Fi’s support site.

- Doxie Go meets DCIM camera specifications when used with Eye-Fi cards. Since Doxie works just like a digital camera, the same answers provided for using Eye-Fi with a camera will apply to using Eye-Fi with your Doxie scanner.
