Using Eye-Fi cards with Doxie Go

A few years ago, we offered an Eye-Fi wireless SD card (X2 Connect 4GB model) bundled with Doxie Go. The Eye-Fi cards were an option for wirelessly transferring scans from Doxie to your computer.

Eye-Fi has discontinued their X2 cards and halted the services that allow them to work

We were exceptionally sad to hear when Eye-Fi announced they were no longer going to continue to support their very popular X2 series cards. In the fast paced world of technology, some products will eventually meet their end-of-life fate, but it's never a happy day when they do. We really wish that Eye-Fi could have found another solution for their cards rather than completely shut down their function.

What does this mean?

It means that effective June 30, 2016, Eye-Fi will no longer be supporting many of their older Wi-Fi cards.

How will this affect my Doxie?

Your original Doxie Go will still continue to work, though since your Eye-Fi card will no longer be able to send scans to your computer, it means you'll longer be able to do so wirelessly. Fortunately, there other ways to transfer your scans:

Are there any other wi-fi cards that will work?

Alas, no, we don't support any other wireless SD cards with Doxie.

What is Doxie Go SE Wi-Fi?

Doxie Go SE Wi-Fi is our latest portable scanner with built-in 802.11n wireless networking capabilities. Doxie Go SE Wi-Fi creates it’s own wireless network and can also join compatible networks in your home or office.

How does Doxie Go SE Wi-Fi work?

Doxie Go SE Wi-Fi has built-in wireless networking technology, so you can sync scans wirelessly to your Mac, PC, iPhone, or iPad.

By default, Doxie creates its own Wi-Fi network, so you can use your Mac, PC, or iOS device to join Doxie’s network to access your scans. You can optionally join Doxie to your home or office network with Dual Wi-Fi. When you turn on Doxie in range of a configured network, Doxie will join that network and skip creating its own network. If, however, it doesn’t find a configured network, Doxie will assume you’re out and about and create its own network.

Is there a way to upgrade to a new Doxie Go SE Wi-Fi?

Absolutely - find out more about our Doxie Obsolete Replacement Program here.
