How do I calculate Doxie's MAC address for device filtering?

If your router uses MAC address or device filtering, you'll need to add Doxie to the trusted device list in order to connect Doxie to your local network.

The MAC address for the network Doxie creates is printed on the bottom of the scanner. This should be a 12-digit value that starts with 00-11-e5.

The MAC address you want to add to the trusted device list is this value plus one. It is the address of the interface that joins existing networks. A hexadecimal calculator or Google Search can help you make the calculation.

For example, if Wi-Fi MAC: 00-11-e5-05-8a-e2 is printed on the bottom of the scanner, enter 0x0011e5058ae2 + 1 in a Google Search. The leading "0x" denotes that the calculation should be done in hexadecimal. The search will return 0x11E5058AE3. This is the MAC address you want to add to the trusted device list. Note that the calculator may strip the two leading zeros, so remember to add them back in when entering the address. In this example, the address will be 00-11-e5-05-8a-e3.
