Why does my scanner keep turning off?

Doxie is designed to automatically turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity to save battery life.

If Doxie keeps turning off, or shows a red flashing light and won't let you scan right after you turn it on, the battery is dead. Recharge your scanner via USB.

If Doxie doesn't immediately turn on when connecting via USB, just leave Doxie off for 20 minutes or so to get a little bit of a charge, then the scanner will have enough power to turn on. Then you can let the scanner fully charge later.

Note: The Wi-Fi module automatically turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity to save battery life. Doxie should continue to stay on after Wi-Fi turns off.

If Doxie is connected via USB, and is still turning off...

If Doxie's battery is extremely low and connected via USB, it's rare but possible to be able to exceed the amount of power that USB can provide, especially if you turn on Wi-Fi. Doxie uses its battery in these cases, and if the battery is very low, the scanner might turn off even if it's plugged in. Let your Doxie charge up for a little while, then you'll have enough power to stay on and use Wi-Fi.
