Cleaning & Care
Doxie's motors and image sensors get dirty over time, reducing scanning performance and image quality.
- If your scans are showing lines, black dots, or other quality issues: Clean Doxie's image sensor.
- If Doxie has trouble scanning very thick paper or stalls during scanning: Clean Doxie's image sensor and rollers (especially the bottom rollers), and read more about scanning thick originals with Doxie Go SE.
- If Doxie is having ongoing feeding or skewing issues: Clean Doxie's image sensor and rollers, make sure you're scanning with the paper guides, and read more about properly scanning different kinds of originals with Doxie Go SE.
Cleaning the image sensor and rollers
-
Open Doxie's top cover.
-
Clean off the glass with the included microfiber cleaning cloth.
-
If you're having trouble with feeding thick paper or skewing, clean the rollers too. Wipe down all sides of rollers with the included microfiber cleaning cloth.
Rotate the feed rollers with your finger – front and back, top and bottom – to clean the entire round surface of the rollers. The bottom rollers need the most attention since they do all the work. For best results, clean until there is no remaining white residue on the bottom rollers.
-
After cleaning, recalibrate Doxie.
This should do the trick. If it doesn’t, or if you want to get your Doxie even cleaner, try an advanced cleaning.
Advanced cleaning
For stubborn dust and dirt, especially on Doxie's bottom rollers, try a “wet” cleaning cycle - there are two options:
Microfiber Cloth & Isopropyl Alcohol
- Lightly moisten the included microfiber cleaning cloth with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). You just want to moisten it - it should not be dripping wet.
- Wipe the rollers and the glass with the moistened cleaning cloth. Rotate the feed rollers with your finger – front and back, top and bottom – to clean the entire round surface of the rollers. The bottom rollers need the most attention since they do all the work. For best results, clean until there is no remaining white residue on the bottom rollers.
- Close the top cover and let Doxie dry for approximately 5-10 minutes after a wet cleaning cycle.
- After drying, recalibrate Doxie.
Pre-moistened Scanner Cleaning Wipes
Pre-moistened lens cleaning wipes, like these from Zeiss, make it super easy to clean Doxie.
-
Open the packet and remove the wipe.
-
Lightly wipe off the glass.
-
Wipe down all sides of rollers with the pre-moistened wipe.

Remember, the pre-moistened wipes are single use only. Do not use a dirty or dried out wipe - this may scratch.
Never use any solvents or corrosive liquids (like drinking alcohol, denatured alcohol or kerosene) to clean any part of Doxie. The plastic material could become permanently damaged.
