Cleaning & Care

  1. Doxie doesn’t like it rough. Treat Doxie with care.
  2. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean Doxie’s exterior. Never use an abrasive substance.
  3. If your scans are showing lines, black dots, or other quality issues, it’s time to clean Doxie. Use the included microfiber cleaning cloth to safely clean your scanner.

Cleaning Doxie

  1. Open Doxie's top cover.
  2. Open the interior cover by lifting up the center.
  3. Lightly wipe the separation pad, rollers, and the glass with the included microfiber cleaning cloth. Rotate the feed roller with your finger to clean the entire surface.


    Tip: Wipe the separation pad downwards so that the cleaning cloth does not get caught in the metal parts.

This should do the trick. If it doesn’t, try one of the advanced methods below. Only do an advanced cleaning if a regular cleaning does not work.

Advanced Cleaning

For stubborn dust and dirt, try a “wet” cleaning cycle - there are two options:

Microfiber Cloth & Isopropyl Alcohol

  1. Lightly moisten the microfiber cleaning cloth with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). You just want to moisten it — it should not be dripping wet.
  2. Lightly wipe the separation pad, rollers, and glass with the moistened cleaning cloth.
  3. Let Doxie dry for 5-10 minutes after a wet cleaning cycle.
  4. After drying, recalibrate Doxie.

Don't use water to clean Doxie's interior. Never use any solvents or corrosive liquids (like drinking alcohol, denatured alcohol, or kerosene) to clean any part of Doxie. The plastic material could become permanently damaged.

Pre-moistened Scanner Cleaning Wipes

Pre-moistened lens cleaning wipes, like these from Zeiss, make it super easy to clean Doxie.

  1. Open the packet and remove the wipe.
  2. Lightly wipe the separation pad, rollers, and the glass with the moistened cleaning wipe.
  3. Let Doxie dry for 5-10 minutes after a wet cleaning cycle.
  4. After drying, recalibrate Doxie.

Remember, the pre-moistened wipes are single use only. Do not use a dirty or dried out wipe - this may scratch.
